About Tyson

Tyson Ernst is the current access technology instructor with the Washington Department of services for the blind in their Orientation and training center in Seattle. Bringing a teaching background stretching back to 1985, Tyson has taught in the fields of Music, medicine, and access technology.

“My philosophy and approach to teaching is one of servant instruction. I was introduced to the philosophy of servant leadership While working at the Lighthouse of Central Florida, and it had a huge impact on how and why I was doing what it is I do. It made me rethink the way I was approaching the whole of teaching. Was I doing this for myself, or for my students”

During the Pandemic, Tyson attended a virtual changemakers conference where Charlene Li was a presenter. Again, she was the right person at the right time and her presentation on Disruptive leadership planded in his head and took root

“I’ve worked with many individuals where the culture was to hold onto the status quo. taking time to understand how shaking up the way things were was actually a good thing, again, it took my life and teaching methodology in a new and exciting direction. I realized we don’t need to fear innovation. The world is changing and evolving, and we cannot stop this process, it is a part of nature. Now, how can I adapt my teaching to fit this new dichotomy?”

Thus, began the latest chapter in his journey!
